My New Baby!

Yep! I spoiled myself to a brand new camera. Those who know me just a bit know that with me it’s almost always “all or nothing”. I get that from my dear papa. So even though I can be stubbornly cheap on many small things, when I really do want something, second best won’t cut it. So yeah that was a real threat but with the Olympics around the corner, I certainly won’t regret it. I already had several occasion to test it undo various condition and it really is a little marvel of a camera. Most pictures on this post were taken with it but not all. Now you can see the view from the top floor of my apartment building. It’s an immense 12 crane construction site. It is yet another mega habitation/offices/shopping complex to become. Beijing is growing at a staggering rate.

I took my new baby around with me to take a bit more photos like when I went to an artist village on the outskirts of Beijing. A friend of mine manages a gallery there and knows many of the local artists. So after a special meal of insanely spicy lamb guts and chicken, she took me around to visit a few of her artists’ friends’ studios. None of them spoke English but it was still quite interesting. I simply looked around and drank impressive quantities of the while listening to them.

Latest news! I will be moving into a new apartment at the end of the month. Let’s just say that my Chinese roommate wanted to live with someone that has a more similar lifestyle to hers and that’s not really my case… On the one hand, I kind of like it here because it was well situated and relatively cheap but on the other hand where I’ll be moving it is much much nicer, cleaner, more modern and also well located. Of course it’ll be that much more expensive to but most important of all, I’ll be living on my own just the way I like it. I’m looking forward to move in. I’ll show you around next time!
